After decades of struggling with personal alcohol use and devastating losses of loved ones due to mental health issues, Jack had a profound revelation to give his life to help others heal and recognize their beautiful and purposeful identity through the Compass Integrative Recovery process and community.
Jack has revitalized the lives of dozens of entrepreneurs and executives through his ground breaking “road map” which uniquely allows those that engage with him to redirect all major components of their life to true north on their compass. This process solidifies a persons value, high worth and identity cultivating current and future actions to say no to, so they’re unstoppable in the things they yes to.
For over 23 years Jack has been in real estate finance, the past 10 almost exclusively in the commercial and development space as acting President of Peach Lending (www.peachlending.com). He was the Sr Leader of Upper Room Church in Santa Barbara, has led overseas non-profit service projects in 10 different nations, has been a keynote at several high profile faith-based and business conferences, and currently serves on the boards of Isla Vista Church in Santa Barbara and Unbreakable ministries in Colorado Springs.
To hear more about Jack, find him hosting the The Way Through Podcast (TheWayThroughPod), a new podcast that shares stories from people who have been through hell and now experience tangible moments of heaven on earth. Those that have chosen to face the storms of trauma, grief, and addiction, turned towards it and come out on the other side better than ever. Jack’s prayer is to have every single Compass client have a powerful story of their way through.
Kerri Russi has spent decades building a career in various service industries -spanning from 7yrs restaurant hospitality, 16yrs in Corporate Aviation, as well as owning and operating a 15-bed Sober Living Home, serving hundreds of Sonoma County residents over it’s 6yrs of operation.
Kerri believes the “impossible” is always possible and has a unique gift and love of finding creative solutions to any obstacle.
Through her career, Kerri’s core belief grew to become that service isn’t just about a product, but more about creating an experience which leaves people feeling seen, heard, and in connection to others – and she strives to bring this spirit to all of her endeavors.
During Kerri’s own recovery journey in young adulthood, witnessing the paths to recovery of family members, as well as the people who lived in her Sober Living Home, Kerri came to the belief that addiction is (at it’s core) a disease of shame.
She saw that if we can heal and remove the shame that addiction is rooted in, we then create space for the brilliance, genius, and divinity that has always lived within all of us to come forward and be redirected as a creative force for flourishing.
Kerri believes we can begin to turn poison to medicine through the simple act of honoring the harrowing journey from addiction to recovery as one of the most courageous paths to spirituality and introspection one can embark on.

Growing up part of a medical and military family, I learned a lot of the values and passion that characterize my practice today. Entering my collegiate years, I watched my physician father start to practice medicine a new way, before it became more acceptable to treat patients with an “alternative” thought process. Considering a career in medicine myself, it took me a while to make up my mind considering I had a lot of other interests to pursue. I first received my bachelor’s degree in History and Foreign Service from Baylor University and went on to an intensive language program earning a Master’s in German through Middlebury College. After finishing those studies at the University of Mainz in Germany and discovering that I definitely didn’t want to be a professor after all, I decided to go back to the original pursuit of medical school and earned my MD from the University of Kansas in 1998.
It was inspiring to watch my dad (an ENT surgeon and allergy specialist) recognize that surgery wasn’t always the necessary or best treatment for many of his patients, many who started to get better by changing the way they thought about food, environment, and overall lifestyle. Hearing the stories of how he was changing the health and lives of his patients with this approach, and seeing their gratitude because their lives (vs just symptoms) had been improved with his guidance, inspired me to study and apply medicine in the same way. I especially remember a hiking trip to Mt. St. Helens together. On the way to the trailhead he was asked by a fellow bus passenger about a medical issue, and after a few short minutes, many people were craning their necks to hear more about how they could be empowered to take charge of their own health. That settled it! Still young and early in my medical training, I knew that I would practice the kind of medicine that captured the heart of people in this way.

Faithful Hearts is a Equine Facilitated Mental Health Learning (EFMHL) located just 2 miles away from the Compass Integrative Recovery residential property in beautiful Woodland Park, CO. Equine Facilitated Mental Health Learning (EFMHL) offers soothing, tactical experiences with the equines to generate a sense of physical wholeness and inner tranquility essential for mental and spiritual health. It is an activity mostly conducted on the ground (rather than mounted). The benefits, and case studies showing the fantastic long-term benefits for those recovering from substance abuse is overwhelmingly positive.
Activities are planned and guided by Certified Equine Professionals, and during sessions we strive to achieve peaceful, healing, relationships conducive to personal growth, spiritual growth, discovery, and well-being. EFMHL activities help participants slow down which creates a sense of composure and reduces stress, thus opening up the mind to learning. Countless case studies attest to the healing effects of horses. Working with a powerful, gentle, humble creature forces us to take a look at ourselves and explore who we are and where we need to go. The horses respond to us as unique individuals and somehow understand us at the most basic level of who we are.
Our Certified Equine Professionals can also partner with a licensed professional counselor who can offer processing insight and feedback from the results of the sessions. We also work with addiction recovery programs and provide an onsite certified instructor to supervise the equine-related portions of the activities in conjunction with the oversight provided by the facilitators of these programs.
