Dr. Martin Kaufmann serves as the Clinical Director at Compass Integrative Recovery Center, where he provides both individual and group clinical mental health services alongside advanced neurotherapy interventions. With a passion for combining evidence-based counseling with cutting-edge brain-based tools, Dr. Kaufmann supports clients on their recovery journey by helping them reduce barriers, increase self-awareness, and unlock their full potential for change.
Dr. Kaufmann’s clinical experience spans work with men, women, and young adults navigating significant life transitions, trauma, addiction recovery, and identity reconstruction. He integrates current therapeutic theory with neurotherapy modalities, including quantitative EEG (qEEG) assessments and a comprehensive suite of neurotherapy tools designed to promote emotional regulation, cognitive clarity, and long-term growth.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Kaufmann serves as an Affiliate Faculty Member in the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Colorado Christian University. There, he trains graduate students in clinical theory, ethical practice, and the integration of theory and methods to develop their counseling praxis.
Dr. Kaufmann’s professional journey is grounded in his upbringing on a farm in rural Wisconsin, where he developed a deep work ethic and a passion for building solutions that serve people. His first career in Prosthetics and Orthotics included work at Shriners Hospital and ultimately led him to found a manufacturing company that pioneered the field of Veterinary Prosthetics and Orthotics (VPO) in the early 2000s. For more than 20 years, he has led innovation in that space, combining engineering, biomechanics, and care for animals.
In 2016, Dr. Kaufmann entered the field of professional counseling, drawn by a persistent question shared by many of his clients and experienced in his own life: “What’s next?” His pursuit of that answer led him to earn his PhD in Leadership and Human Development, with a focus on transformational change, identity formation, and the intersection of neuroscience and behavioral health.
Whether in the clinic, classroom, or community, Dr. Kaufmann remains committed to helping others build meaningful, lasting change—one courageous step at a time.
