Gary Black

VP of Business Development

Mr. Black oversees the business development for Compass Integrative Recovery and its parent company. He works with corporations, first responder organizations, executives, ministers, entrepreneurs, and individuals.
In addition to his role at Compass, Mr. Black has over 30 years of experience spanning executive sales, strategic business development, nonprofit leadership, and global GTL (gas-to-liquid) initiatives. He has had the privilege of working across sectors and continents—including impactful work in the USA, Russia, Spain, and various regions of Africa.
Mr. Black’s professional journey includes leadership roles such as Co-Founder, Executive Vice President, EVP of Sales, and Regional Sales Director within the telecommunications industry. From 1994 to 2000, he served as CEO/President of an international nonprofit focused on sustainable development and leadership training across three continents.
In addition, he co-founded a groundbreaking global leadership initiative that has trained and commissioned thousands of young leaders, creating a legacy of global influence and community transformation. He has also worked in commercial oil and gas trading, broadening his understanding of global markets and energy needs.
A pivotal moment in his life came on April 17, 2013, when he lost his 19-year-old son, Michael Ryan Black, to drugs and mental illness. In his honor, he established the Team Black 417 Michael Ryan Black Foundation to support causes that mattered deeply to him.
Throughout his career, Mr. Black successfully raised millions of dollars for both for-profit and nonprofit ventures—including funding for orphanages in Russia/Africa—and continues to passionately pursue projects that create real-world impact.
He and his family lived in Swaziland, Africa, and Mijas, Spain; he now resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is the proud father of five grown children, seven grandchildren, and is happily married to his bride Lisa-marie for over 25 years. In his spare time, Gary and Lisa enjoy hiking, motorcycles, and traveling the world.
