Josh Hudnall

Program Director

Josh Hudnall is a seasoned leader, certified life coach, and founder of multiple recovery and mental health programs dedicated to helping young people overcome adversity and realize their full potential. With over two decades of leadership experience in youth development, recovery, and ministry, Josh has committed his life to walking alongside those facing life’s toughest battles.

A former professional athlete, Josh was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 13th round of the MLB Draft and later played college football as a starting wide receiver at the University of Louisiana Monroe. After a career-ending injury, he transitioned from athletics to ministry, discovering a calling to serve those navigating addiction, trauma, and identity struggles.

Involved in Celebrate Recovery from its early days, Josh played a key role in growing one of the largest CR ministries in the U.S., regularly hosting over 400 attendees. His leadership expanded into housing initiatives, launching seven recovery homes that have provided shelter and structure to more than 60 men.

In 2016, Josh founded The Carpenter Shed, a nationally recognized treatment center for adolescent boys facing mental health and substance use challenges. Building on that vision, he now brings the invaluable experience and accolades to lead those attending Compass Integrative Recovery groups into a place of freedom.

Josh brings firsthand experience as a high school baseball coach, mentor, minister, and father of three—including college-athlete twins. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Clinical Counseling to further equip himself to support youth on their journey toward healing and purpose. Josh holds a bachelors of Psychology from Colorado Christian University and where he is also pursuing his Master’s in Family Therapy.

Through Compass Josh and his team are passionate about helping teens rediscover hope, confidence, and a future worth fighting for—because no one should have to face life’s challenges alone.
